Fillings

Silver amalgam has been the traditional choice for filling material prior to composite resin. It is composed of 35% silver, 15% tin, small amounts of zinc, and about 50% mercury. Amalgam restoration can be durable but can corrode and stain teeth over time. In larger amalgam fillings, the remaining tooth may weaken and fracture.

In our practice, we only offer what is best for our patients. In that respect, we only offer composite resins as the filling material of choice. Composite restorations can achieve the appearance of your natural teeth. It is a more conservative restoration because they require less tooth structure removal and the composite is bonded to your teeth to provide better retention.

If you currently have amalgam fillings, they may be easily replaced with composite resins to improve the esthetics of your teeth. Ask us about it during your consultation.
